The Space in Between
A summer rain and a golden ray
The wind that moves spruce and hay
The vapor streaming towards the heavens
Needles and trunks dancing with Nature’s breath
This is the illuminated space in between, that lets you see Nature’s golden thread
The unknowing deeply felt, can be seen, in the space in between
And when the west wind kisses your breath, and you draw inward and extinguish yourself; you are, for a fleeting eternity, the space in between
You open your eyes and see your neighbor strolling down the lane. Wondering if he feels the same
You break the halcyon spell, the golden trance, parlance turns towards the mended fence
And you resume your search for wonder unseen. All you grasp is quicksilver
Until you realize your neighbor, the fence, you are; the space in between
So carry on with a spry step - the day’s not done - there’s walking yet
